(Singapore November 21, 2022) On a visit to Singapore not too long ago, Mr Chew Chang Guan, CEO of Sarawak Trade & Tourism Co. Pte. Ltd (STATOS) was curious to know how many ordinary Singaporeans knew where Sarawak is. He was disappointed to learn that only one out of the ten they asked knew. “We are determined to improve that so at least eight of ten Singaporeans know about Sarawak,” he said at the opening ceremonies of the Sarawak Fair 2022, held at Suntec in Singapore. The Fair, which runs until November 27, sees 31 businesses from the east Malaysia state representing tourism, trade and investment products present. “This is just one of many events to come,” he continued, “and we are planning a very big event.”

Sarawak Fair 2022 is highlighting six themes: Travel and Tourism; Nature, Adventure and Heritage; People, Culture and Community; Arts, Events and Festivals; Food, Leisure and Entertainment; Trade, Business and Investment including S-MM2H (Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home).

His Excellency Dato' Dr. Azfar Mohamad Mustafar, High Commissioner of Malaysia pointed out that the fair is not just about promoting Sarawak’s tourism products (of which there are many) but also includes promoting important longer-term trade and investment opportunities.

“Sarawak is perfectly positioned to supply what Singapore needs in terms of trade and investment opportunities,” added Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi bin A Ghani, Chairman of STATOS, “especially in agriculture, aquaculture, reducing carbon footprints and renewable energy.”
