Singapore, 14 March 2016 – The hotels, resorts and serviced suites under Pan Pacific Hotels Group are putting energy into celebrating Planet Earth by switching off or dimming lights during Earth Hour on 19 March 2016, 8.30 to 9.30pm local time. Besides joining in the plethora of Earth Hour-related activities planned by the hotels, guests are encouraged to show their support by reducing the use of lighting and energy in their rooms during Earth Hour.

All eight properties in Singapore – Pan Pacific Orchard, Pan Pacific Singapore, Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Beach Road, Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Orchard, PARKROYAL on Beach Road, PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road, PARKROYAL on Pickering and PARKROYAL Serviced Suites – will also switch off non-essential lights on their building façades and public areas such as the lobby, driveway and corridors on guest floors.

To promote interaction between its guests and the community through the event, PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia has designated a section at its lobby for guests to participate in activities such as poetry reading (of environment and nature-related poems), talks by environmental NGOs and performances by volunteers. Upholding its yearly Earth Hour tradition, PARKROYAL Penang Resort will organise a kids' lantern-making session followed by a lantern night walk that culminates in the light-up of tea candles by the swimming pool to form the '60+' Earth Hour logo. The resort is extending its Happy Hours until closing time so guests may enjoy their drinks outdoors and unwind with a relaxing massage in the dark. Also continuing its Earth Hour practice is Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort, which will organise a sky lantern light-up and release ceremony on its cliff lawn for hotel guests as a symbolic gesture of enlightenment.In China, the lobby of Pan Pacific Ningbo will be dotted with specially-crafted Earth Suzhou will transform its lobby once again for “unplugged” performances. Holding just lanterns, associates stationed at the hotel entrances and linkways will help raise awareness of Earth Hour and encourage their guests to join in the Hour '60+' candles. The experience extends to pastries customised for the event at the dinner buffet, as well as a complimentary yoga class for guests during Earth Hour. Pan Pacific activities. In another city, the associates of Pan Pacific Tianjin and their families, carrying just light sticks, will take an atmospheric walk along the Haihe River together with the hotel guests. Pan Pacific Xiamen will keep the non-essential lights around the building and its public areas off until the next day to demonstrate its commitment towards managing its energy needs for a better environment.

Elsewhere around the world, Pan Pacific Manila, Pan Pacific Perth, Pan Pacific Seattle, and Pan Pacific Vancouver have created special cocktails and mocktails just for the occasion, with part of the sales proceeds going towards their adopted charities. In addition, selected restaurants and bars at Pan Pacific Vancouver, Pan Pacific Perth and PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport will offer the experience of dining by candlelight or table lamps. Meanwhile, PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney will donate five per cent of total food and beverage takings at its ABODE restaurant to Earth Hour Blue, the world's largest crowdfunding platform for environmental and social projects around the world.
