(August 12, 2021, Singapore) New low fares starting from just $79* are now on sale for flights between Singapore and Phuket, as Jetstar Asia prepares to recommence services to the popular island.

Taking off from 3 September 2021, Jetstar Asia will operate two weekly services to Phuket using the Airbus A320 as part of the ‘sandbox scheme’ + , carrying up to 1,700 visitors a month.

Under the Thai government’s ‘sandbox scheme’, customers who are fully vaccinated against COVID19 and travelling from low- or medium-risk countries will be allowed to visit Phuket for a mini-break or longer holiday, quarantine-free. Only travellers who want to visit other destinations in Thailand are required to stay in Phuket for at least 14 days.

Jetstar Asia CEO, Bara Pasupathi (pictured) said the airline was excited to restart services to this popular destination as border restrictions begin to relax for vaccinated travellers.

“Initiatives like the sandbox scheme are important opportunities as we continue to ramp up our operations and respond to the increasing demand for leisure travel in the region,” said Mr Pasupathi. “Jetstar Asia is in a strong position to be able to respond to these initiatives, which will in turn help boost local jobs and rebuild local tourism.

“The pace and uptake of the vaccination roll out program in Singapore has been very encouraging, so it is great to be able to reward our customers with more opportunities to get back in the air and travel to their favourite destinations.”

The low-cost carrier also anticipates strong demand for the Phuket service from transit travellers connecting through Jetstar Asia’s Singapore Changi hub. Customers can connect between Phuket and a number of destinations in the Jetstar network# including Clark, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Penang and Phnom Penh.

Customers from Jetstar Asia’s partners Air France, KLM, British Airways and Emirates can also make one booking and transit seamlessly through Singapore to and from Phuket.

Mr. Pasupathi added, “We remain confident that as the region opens, low fares leisure travel will lead the way and with our extensive network, great customer experience and low-cost model, Jetstar Asia is well positioned to play an important role in re-establishing Singapore as a leading aviation hub.”

To offer our customers increased booking flexibility and confidence when flying, Jetstar Asia’s Fly Flex options and Fly Well safety measures are in place for all travellers.
