I had lunch with long-time friend Tracy Lui who is now Senior Manager Communications and Community Partnerships with Mount Faber Leisure Group. Formerly the Jewel Box, Faber Peak Singapore now presents a delightful menu created by Executive Chef Derrick Ang. It wasn’t just the desserts that were exceptional, but the entire meal was excellent. The new menu focuses on fresh produce with more vegetarian options. But I must say, the Crispy Pork Belly and the Tobiko Crusted Cod Fillet were succulent. It was my first time trying – to my knowledge Chempedek – which is a tropical fruit related to the Jack Fruit, but in this dessert it came across better than its cousin.In addition to taking the Cable Car up to Mount Faber for the food, you go for the view and the chance to get above it all in a beautiful natural setting. Gazing out over the sea, the distant islands and the tropical rainforest that blankets the slope makes for a very relaxing, stress relieving, experience.A Faber Licence annual membership is now being offered for just $39.00 a year! This is an excellent deal as it gives you unlimited rides on both the Mount Faber Line and the expanded Sentosa Line, which costs $33.00 (for adults) for just one trip.In addition to walking trails around Mount Faber you should check out the ‘Bell of Happiness’. Originally a gift to Sentosa in 1992, the century-old bell from a Polish ship, now ushers in many blissful marriages. At the gift shop you can buy a pair of wishing bells and write down your wish. You then seal it by hanging the bells in the beautiful garden. You might be astonished at just how many people have done this.

If you haven’t been to Mount Faber for a while, or you are visiting Singapore for the first time, you won’t be disappointed with this different and thrilling view of the Lion City.
