October rolls in with a smorgasbord of reasons to eat out. Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa - Nagoya's 94 years unagi specialist landing in Raffles City; Westholme Wagyu's 10th Anniversary Dinner offering an insight to the best of Australia finest Wagyu (established since 1824) at top-notch Singapore restaurants; Sullivan Cove Tasmanian Whisky at La Maison du Whisky & Shop at Robertson Quay; Big Wine Freaks Omakase, Chefs Choice Menu and 2nd Birthday Anniversary; Lulu's Lounge Shanghai Glamour inspired Dim sum and Cocktails; Magpie cocktail program; Viva Lavender European-Asian offerings and Sushiro signature kaiten (conveyor belt) dining experience at the new Orchard Gateway restaurant and Sushi sets with Pokemon merchandise at Hougang Mall outlet.

 Westholme

Australia’s oldest premium Wagyu producer, established in 1824, marked 10 years in Singapore in September with an intimate fire-driven intimate dinner with the top culinary industry insiders at Ida’s featuring Sydney’s Firedoor chef, Lennox Hastie, his first visit to the city.

Westholme’s Wagyu turns up at some of Singapore’s most popular restaurants with curated menus. Savour the best Australia Wagyu ever at Empire Grill at Raffles Sentosa Singapore, Magpie in Tiong Bahru and Sushisamba at Capital Tower.

If you are planning to eat out at only one restaurant for Wagyu protein, make it a proper steak night with Westholme.

Available at: Empire Grill (Raffles Sentosa Singapore), Magpie (57 Eng Hoon Street) and SUSHISAMBA (Capital Tower).

Sullivans Cove Tasmanian Whisky

Founded in 1994, Sullivans Cove Distillery is Tasmania's second-oldest operating whisky distillery and Australia's most awarded producer of single malt whisky, earning international recognition like World's Best Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards in 2014, 2018, 2019 and again in 2026.

At Sullivans Cove, every whisky is made using 100% Tasmanian barley and matured in full-sized oak casks until it reaches its peak. Every stage of production is designed with long-term maturation in mind, creating a rich, complex wash that forms the foundation for decades of cask maturation.

Sullivans Cove is exclusively distributed by La Maison du Whisky Asia-Pacific and is available at the La Maison du Whisky & Shop at Robertson Quay, online store (whisky.sg) and select retail partners.

Big Wine Freaks

The Bukit Pasoh wine bar turned two on 26 September, celebrating with a $178++ six-course anniversary dinner (think Cocollos oysters with caviar and ikura, A4 Kagoshima striploin) followed by an afterparty helmed by DJs Anand, Aurora and CandiceB.

Head Chef Lim Wei Kiat’s Josper Basque Grill mains – Braised Lamb Shoulder ($138), Beef Short Rib ($46), Octopus ($58) with romesco – anchor a menu that opens with Chef Kenyoshi Ryohei’s Japanese raw bar (Sashimi Set in BWF Style, $158; French Oysters, $9 each).

First-timers should try the Chef’s Choice menus at $98++ or $148++, and the calendar of weekly fixtures such as Thursday Omakase ($188++), Friday Second Round from 9:00pm with guest DJs, and the monthly Wine Not? Club wine dinners.

The wine list runs to over 500 labels and just picked up The World of Fine Wine’s Best Wine Bar in Asia for 2026.

Lulu's Lounge

Inspired by the golden age of 1930s Shanghai, Lulu's Lounge is a modern supper club at Singapore's Chinatown, next to Terra Southbridge Hotel.

The revived lounge showcases elevated Chinese dim sum, a Shanghai-inspired cocktail program by Studio Ryecroft, and a nightly calendar of live jazz, cabaret and burlesque plus DJ sets - with no cover charge.

The Shanghai-inspired dim sum and small plates are intended for lingering with cocktails at dusk, performances at mid-evening, and the gradual swell of music into the early hours.

Highlights include Oscietra Caviar Siu Mai, a classic siu mai topped with Oscietra caviar and yuzu crème fraîche and Hong Kong Prawn Toast, golden fried brioche with coarse prawn paste, tobiko and a chilli-lime aioli.

For something more substantial, try Crispy Aromatic Duck Pancakes, Crispy-Skin Chicken and Mala Grilled Fish Skewers.

Magpie

Tiong Bahru’s borderless-soul-food favourite finally has a cocktail program worthy of its kitchen.

Led by Head of Operations & Beverage Trisha “Taco” Leong (28 HongKong Street, Sago House, Night Hawk), the menu leans into savoury, story-driven flavours at $26 a serve.

Signatures include the Dirty Bird (chicken fat-washed gin, herb vermouth, pickled brine, celery), the tropical Magpie Daiquiri (rhum agricole, passionfruit, Arveau) and the Hush Money (miso brown butter, whiskey, dark rum, hazelnut, sherry, burnt sugar).

Keep an eye out for the limited-edition Magpie Mystery Tokens floating around town – 150 were released, each redeemable for two cocktails at $40++ (usual $52++).

Viva Lavender

A quiet neighbourhood standout on Lavender Street where young local chefs Colin Peh (ex-Michelin-starred France, Tapas Club, Kulto) and Danny Kwok (ex-Gaig) are turning out European-Asian cooking that punches well above its postal code.

The wood-fired Josper Grill is the centrepiece, and the steak selection runs eight cuts deep: the Australian Grain-Fed Hanging Tender ($40) and Black Angus Flat Iron ($42) for solo diners, all the way up to a 1.6kg Dry-Aged Black Angus Tomahawk ($28 per 100g) for the table.

Also worth ordering: Miso Black Cod ($52), Miso Nori Spaghetti ($30) with salmon aburi and shoyu ikura, and the cult-favourite Burnt Manchego Cheesecake ($15).

Two deals to know: Viva Hour runs Monday to Thursday before 8:00pm with 50% off your second house-pour wine and 20% off cocktails (with a food order), and the 3-Course Set Lunch from $29++ is one of the tidier weekday lunch deals in town.

Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa (Raffles City)

Fresh off the success of its Shaw Centre debut, this 94-year-old Nagoya-born,  Michelin-selected unagi specialist opened its second Singapore outlet at Raffles City on 1 October, the brand’s 50th location worldwide.

To mark the launch, the 84-seater has unveiled an outlet-exclusive dish available for the opening month only: the Unagi Mountain ($88++), two whole kabayaki unagi stacked atop warm Uonuma Koshihikari rice in a dramatic, tower-like formation, perfect for sharing.

Regulars can still get their fix of the Kabayaki Ippon Jyu Set ($48++), a whole eel grilled over binchotan and plated on custom minoyaki ceramic ware, or the Hitsumabushi Set ($37++), the Nagoya classic served three ways. Grab the Unagi Mountain before 31 October – it’s gone after that.
