KEN HICKSON
A veteran communications specialist with six decades in media and a decent amount of time in PR, Ken is author of seven non-fiction books, including The ABC of Carbon and Race for Sustainability. He’s been producing e-newsletters and online magazines since 2008, but before that he earned his keep as a journalist and editor on radio, TV, newspapers and magazines. After living & working in Singapore for a total of 31 years, Ken (with his wife, M) moved to Brisbane's Bayside (Australia) in November 2024, where he has continued to produce content for media - notably Asian Journeys, of course - but also Wood Central, Village Voice, Daily Cargo News, Redland Bayside News - while maintaining his commitment to sustainability. He describes himself as Editor at Large of ABC Carbon, the small publishing business he's started in 2007, and he also runs regular events labelled 'Travellers' Tales', after the title of his column which first appeared in Asian Journeys in February 2024. He is now a member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers (ASTW).
