(August 29, 2018) Jetwing Lake, Jetwing Kaduruketha and Jetwing Blue were recognized at the recently concluded Sri Lanka National Energy Efficiency Awards 2018, conducted by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority for recognizing private and public-sector institutions' efforts to contribute towards an energy secure Sri Lanka. The multiple awards reaffirm Jetwing's long term commitment to creating comfortable, sustainable and efficient environments guided by United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.

Jetwing Lake received the Gold award in the large-scale hotels category. The resort was also recently honoured with the prestigious PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Gold Award 2018 for the best corporate environmental programme. Overlooking the Siyambalaweva water tank, the 18-acre property hosts one of the largest solar installations in a Sri Lankan hotel. The 300kW grid-tied Solar PV system enables the resort to generate more than 40% of the hotel's daily electricity requirement.

Jetwing Kaduruketha won the Silver award in the medium-scale hotels category. Inspired by the culture and daily life of a traditional farming community, the agro eco-luxury resort with 25 dwellings has been designed to maximise the use of natural light and ventilation. By preserving the existing site vegetation and using traditional design elements and natural material in construction, the property has successfully reduced the need for artificial cooling in guest rooms.Jetwing Blue received the Bronze award in large scale hotels category. The 120-bedroom beach resort was the first in Jetwing's collection of properties to install a 20kW off-grid solar photovoltaic system to power all guest rooms' illumination.

In addition to the above, Jetwing Lake and Jetwing Blue pride themselves on well planned renewable energy utilizations such as a 300 TR Vapour Absorption Chiller run sustainably via steam produced by a biomass boiler for air conditioning requirements and hot water production through biomass boilers and solar panels. Hiran Cooray, Chairman-Jetwing commenting on these accolades said “From its inception, having a positive impact on our surrounding community and environment has been a guiding pillar at Jetwing. We believe the hospitality industry has the power to shift the way energy is used and our associates continuously seek innovative methods and technologies to face today's challenges. These awards are a great recognition of our commitment to incorporate eco-friendly practices while still maintaining high standards of guest experience.”
