Usher in Deepavali with Floral Festivities at the Indian Heritage Centre
The Indian Heritage Centre Celebrates 10 Years
(September 25, 2025 - Singapore) In celebration of IHC’s 10th anniversary, the Indian Heritage Centre will host its first-ever after-hours experience. The Indian Heritage Centre’s (IHC) well-loved Deepavali Open House returns with a special edition, in line with IHC’s 10th anniversary (IHC10)! Held across four weekends from 27 September to 19 October 2025, the Open House is themed around the significance of flowers in Indian culture, transforming the IHC into a blooming cultural space with vibrant displays, hands-on activities and programs that capture the spirit of Deepavali.
For the first time in this IHC10 special, IHC will open after hours for two evenings of programs and performances as part of their special night programming on 27 September and 4 October. Visitors can look forward to Divine Tales – Special After Dark Drama in the Gallery, an all-new dramatised skit which brings to life the story of Deepavali through music, dance and festive traditions.
Back by popular demand, visitors can also look forward to the Festive Market that will be held across all four weekends of the Open House. This year’s market will feature new and familiar vendors offering a wide array of handcrafted accessories, Indian fashion, festive bakes and more. A perfect pitstop for your festive shopping needs, with free admission for all.
Week 1: 27 - 28 September
The Open House kicks off with the Traditional Lamp Art Making Workshop, where artist Kanday Anjanappa introduces Tholu Bommalata, a traditional shadow puppet art of India. On 27 September, visitors can also be among the first to experience IHC’s after-hours programme, with a special evening of cultural performances and activities.
Week 2: 4 - 5 October
Participate in the Little India Festive Guided Tour & Banana Leaf Meal, a guided trail through Little India’s vibrant flower stalls that will end off with a six-course floral-inspired banana leaf meal. At the IHC, participants can join a lively cooking demonstration featuring edible flowers in festive dishes such as Banana Blossom Vadai and Carrot-Rose-Coconut Laddu with Cooking with Chef Devagi – From Petals to Plate.
Week 3: 11 - 12 October
Families can come together for The Story Behind Deepavali, a parent-child workshop filled with songs, storytelling and hands-on activities to introduce little ones to the festival’s traditions.

In addition to the weekend highlights, visitors can enjoy a vibrant line-up of programmes happening throughout the Open House. From hands-on crafts and festive dress-up to garland-tying, henna art, teatime treats and a lively festive market, there’s something for everyone to enjoy each weekend.
