11 May 2018, PenangG Hotel organised its 10th annual corporate appreciation dinner, the Ghost Ball 2018 on 11 May 2018 at G Hotel Gurney’s Grand Ballroom. Attending corporate guests and media partners were treated to a 5-course dinner, luxurious lucky draw and stellar performances.

Ghost-themed with an aura of mystery that transcends through the decor that sends chills down your spine. This year’s G Ball hosted over 300 corporate guests, media partners, travel agents and business partners, all dressed to kill in evening gowns and Black Tie. The evening began with pre-cocktail where the red carpet was rolled out for an elegant entry and two registration tables to welcome invited attendees. Straight on, an event backdrop decked out with a gigantic printed crow and dried leaves on the red carpet is displayed for a must-have photo session. To the right, an Insta photobooth was setup for more fun with friends and companions, bringing back reminiscence of old school photography. As everyone mingled in clusters towards the Ballroom Foyer, each were served with canapes, light snacks on cocktail tables, as well as free flow beer, red and white wines, and magical cocktails- White Soul and Forbidden Gold at the moonlit minibar. White Soul was a Ron Collins cocktail, a classic case of magic rum, lime and sugar mix, while the Forbidden Gold was a Chivas Cooler, a drier alternative to Whisky Cola made with ginger ale, whisky and lime.

Pockets of fun were also added to entertain guests during the pre-cocktail, including a lucky draw counter where guests can spin a wheel and win cool prizes as a warmup for the night’s grand lucky draw. Besides that, 6 models dressed in futuristic designer fashion outfits with gothic makeup, entertained guests and took photos with them. More selfies and photo sessions with a graveyard pop up with skeletons to “scare” or excite brave souls before the ballroom doors opened. At around 7:00pm, guests were ushered into the cool, misty ballroom decorated with a hundred black crows hanging from the ceiling, all nicely lit with about a thousand candles on 72 candelabras and numerous tea light candles floating in water displayed on long tables. A walk-in as if in the deeply mysterious labyrinth from Phantom of the Opera movie set. Distinguished guests were then seated along the long tables that were decorated with the candelabras on wooden blocks, twigs, some fresh Chrysanthemums, sitting black crows and of course a set of fine dining utensil set for each person. Once everyone was seated for the night, Mr Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel welcomed all guests and appreciated all support given through the years.

After a warm welcome, the night officially kicked off with a twist of dark ballet as the Opening Dance by Greenapple Ballet Academy. Followed by 2-piece Live Band Performance, lucky draw sessions, a beautiful “Phantom of the Opera” musical performance by Soprano Ms Lim Chai Lin and the Yamaha String ensemble, Black Swan dance performance and the Last Dance by Greenapple Ballet Academy.Simultaneously, the fine dining experience prepared by G Hotel’s own banquet team started with the serving of Timbale of Jumbo Crab Meat & Granny Smith Apple Topped with Flying Fish Roe as the appetiser.
