(Singapore 22 October 2021) Singapore Airlines (SIA) welcomes the announcement by the Victorian Premier on plans to reopen the Victorian international border to fully-vaccinated Australian citizens, permanent residents and eligible non-citizens from 1 November 2021.

To support the return of more Australians and the reunification of family and friends, Singapore Airlines have opened sales on its 14-weekly flights between Singapore and Melbourne for eligible customers.

Over the course of the past 18 months Singapore Airlines has continued to operate to Australia, maintaining flights that allowed key trade channels to remain open and connected, and essential travel to be undertaken.

Currently, Singapore Airlines operates 14-weekly passenger flights between Singapore and Melbourne. Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul, welcomed the news, and looked forward to seeing families and friends reunited from 1 November. “This announcement is another welcome step on the road to recovery and we are pleased to reconnect Victoria with the world,” Mr Arul said.

“Opening Victoria’s international border for eligible passengers provides another avenue for Australians stranded overseas to come home, with Singapore Airlines offering 31 flights a week to Sydney and Melbourne, two major Australian gateways.  “We look forward to reconnecting families and loved ones over the coming weeks and months ahead, and continuing to support all levels of government in their efforts to reopen Australia’s borders in a safe, scalable and sustainable way.”
