(Singapore, 21 October 2025) Acclaimed pianist Kseniia Vokhmianina and flutist Roberto Álvarez, two internationally accomplished musicians anchored in Singapore’s vibrant music scene, will present their recital A Night of Classical Harmony at Cambodia’s new cultural landmark The Gong on October 25. The performance celebrates music as a dialogue that connects cultures across Asia through shared artistry and collaboration.

The evening will feature works by Mozart, Fauré, and Prokofiev, alongside contemporary pieces that reflect the duo’s long-standing interest in bridging European and Asian traditions. The programme balances classical and modern repertoire, a hallmark of their performances from Singapore to concert stages across Europe and the Asia-Pacific. 

Vokhmianina, recipient of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) Young Alumni Medal 2025, has performed in concert halls across France, Germany, Belgium, South Korea, and China. She currently heads the music programme at Madison Academy of Music, after teaching at the School of the Arts (SOTA) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). 

Álvarez, Assistant Principal Flute and Piccolo Soloist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, is a prize-winning musician known for his versatility across classical and contemporary repertoire. He has premiered works written for him by composers worldwide and teaches at SOTA, NAFA, and Thailand’s Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music. 

For the duo, performing in Cambodia is as much a creative journey as it is a cultural exchange. Their collaboration, which began in Singapore in 2017, has evolved into an artistic partnership spanning recitals and recordings—most notably their album The Whirlwind Within, praised for its expressive depth and technical brilliance. The recital at The Gong continues this dialogue between continents, blending European artistry with the Cambodian landscape for an evening of classical harmony under the stars.

Opened in 2024 and designed by Swiss architects atelier oï, The Gong forms part of Smiling Gecko’s 150-hectare Educational Campus near Phnom Penh, a sustainable development model uniting education, agriculture, craftsmanship, and culture. Admission is free, with voluntary donations supporting Smiling Gecko’s education and vocational training programmes that empower rural Cambodian communities through knowledge and creativity.
