(Singapore May 23, 2025) Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM)’s latest exhibition, Elegant Sounds: Music, Craft, and the Literati, opens to the public this Friday, 23 May.
Transforming the Scholars Gallery into a tranquil space for reflection, the exhibition explores the significance of the qin in Chinese culture through a presentation of diverse objects from the Han dynasty to the present.
Marking the first major refresh to the gallery since 2015, the exhibition reflects ACM’s commitment to innovation and features a dedicated performance and programme space to create opportunities for fresh and meaningful engagement with audiences. Other highlights include a tactile digital interactive, Voices of the Qin, where visitors can try their hand at playing an actual qin, a series of recordings by renowned qin master Dr Kee Chee Koon, and a video presentation featuring master craftsman Ning Qunhui on the craft of qin making.
