(Singapore, October 2025) — From Friday, November 7, to Sunday, November 9, 2025, Cempedak Island, a private island resort off the east coast of Bintan, Indonesia, invites guests to step into a weekend of suspense and intrigue with its second edition of the Murder Mystery Weekend. During the weekend, the island will transform into a stage for deception, secrets, and unexpected twists, brought to life by professional actors from Evolve School of Performing Arts.
Following Clues
The first edition of the Murder Mystery Weekend, held in April 2025, welcomed a full island of guests, who followed clues across the island and concluded the weekend by unmasking the culprit during a communal dinner on Cempedak’s jetty. Six actors were woven into the island experience, at first indistinguishable from other guests, before revealing themselves in scenes of drama, mischief, and deceit. Guests quizzed them on their tangled connections to Victor, the unfortunate victim, while scavenging for hidden clues – some tucked into elaborate sets such as Victor’s very messy villa, others concealed in unexpected places across the island. One clue was even discovered inside the hat of Cempedak’s general manager, Jimmy, adding to the sense that nowhere on the island was free of suspicion.
In this second edition, guests can expect an even more immersive experience, uncovering new mysteries throughout Cempedak Island’s secluded areas while enjoying the resort’s signature barefoot luxury. With the same attentive, high standard of service that Cempedak is known for, guests will be able to fully immerse themselves in solving the mysteries.
Island of Activities
Throughout the weekend, participants can explore the island’s natural surroundings, enjoying gourmet meals, cocktails by the sea, and a variety of activities, including adventure walks, rock climbing, and watersports such as kayaking, snorkelling, and stand-up paddleboarding. Sports enthusiasts can utilise the courts to play tennis, croquet, volleyball, and boule with other guests. Wellness activities such as yoga and pilates are available on request, and can be arranged at sunrise or sunset, either on the jetty or beside the pool.
The First Clue
The murder mystery weekend begins even before arrival on the island. Participants who book the 11:10am Singapore to Bintan ferry on Friday may receive their first clue. The return ferry on Sunday remains flexible, with ferry options available at 2:35pm, 4:35pm and 6:35pm. Ferries can be booked at www.brf.com.sg.
