Pattaya is not your father's Pattaya. It has grown and changed over recent years. Grown in the sense that there are more bars, more clubs, more massage parlours, and probably more girls than ever before. Changed in that it has added a great number of highrise apartments and keeps adding more. There are shopping malls and outlet stores and more for children to do.

Actually, it is your father's Pattaya. If you haven't seen papa for awhile, this could be where he is. If he is Russian, then most certainly he could be experiencing the pleasures Pattaya has to offer. And Grandpa may be here too.

We spent most of our time in Jomtien, popular for its 6k stretch of beach, and appreciated for being less hectic than Pattaya Beach. High season is Christmas – New Years, and if you go to the Jomtien Beach you find many Europeans with contended smiles enjoying the heat and the service they get on the beach. I don't think I've ever seen a more contended smile than that of the gentleman with a large bottle of Singha in hand, sitting at the night market enjoying the fabulous array of food offered at  great bargain prices. This is where to be at X'mas!
