Inaugural Pemberton Avocado Festival Showcases Southern Forests’ Fresh Produce and Local Flavors

(Pemberton Western Australia October 17) On 1 November, the Southern Forests will celebrate the inaugural Pemberton Avocado Festival, showcasing the best of local avocados and the people who produce them.
Western Australia holds the title of the nation’s largest avocado-producing state — and with Pemberton responsible for 21% of national production, the Southern Forests region is the perfect place to celebrate all things avocado.
The 2025-26 season is nationally forecast to deliver increased production, excellent fruit quality, and strong consumer demand. Ensuring the festival will be a weekend of abundant food, fun and community.
Local growers in Pemberton, Manjimup and surrounding districts report a healthy crop set this season, with fruit quality described as excellent and pack-out rates tracking above average.
“We are seeing fruit with great size, texture and flavour - exactly what Southern Forests avocados are known for,” said Dr Arthur Wilson, Executive Chair of the Southern Forests Food Council.
Launching into its first year, the Pemberton Avocado Festival will celebrate the region’s vibrant industry and community spirit, bringing together growers, food lovers and visitors to enjoy all things avocado.

“The Pemberton Avocado Festival is a way to recognise the people and produce that make this region so special,” said Dr Wilson. “Avocados are an important part of our story, and it is wonderful to see both the industry and community working together to make a positive impact for the region and celebrate together.”
The festival shines a spotlight on the Genuinely Southern Forests brand, representing the premium produce grown throughout the region, including avocados, cherries, truffles, apples and more, and reinforces the Southern Forests’ role as a leader in sustainable, high-quality horticulture.
