(Singapore, February 13, 2024) I was invited to the launch party of The Cygnet Hour at the Cygnet and the Rooftop at QT Singapore. Cygnet Hour brings Manhattan’s electric energy to the heart of Singapore’s CBD, where cocktails and elevated bites meet ‘90s Brooklyn beats. Drinks started at 4:00pm.

QT Hotel. 35 Robinson Road. The building has had many incarnations. It was initially the Eastern Extension Telegraph Building, built in 1927. Now the iconic building is a luxury hotel with Cygnet on the ground floor next to the lobby.

Forget the ordinary. The Cygnet Hour takes inspiration from ‘The Big Apple’ and goes bigger and better, with cocktails shaken tableside for a dash of theatre. Guests can look forward to a rotating menu offering a choice from three spirit-forward cocktails to take the edge off a busy day, or a highball option for those preferring a refreshing aperitif to start their evening. A selection of beers, house wines, and prosecco are also available at the same enticing price, ensuring there is the perfect drink for everyone. All guests are treated to a complimentary serving of freshly cooked fries on arrival to accompany their drinks. For those craving something more indulgent, the bar snack menu offers an array of decadent delights—priced at $10—including a jamón and cheese Bikini Sandwich, mini lobster rolls, oysters, and tater tots.

To celebrate making it through the mid-week ‘hump,’ on Wednesdays, The Cygnet Hour invites the city to enjoy $1 oysters in addition to the daily ‘happy hour’ offerings, ushering guests to gather for a little uptown decadence with a downtown price tag in the heart of Singapore’s CBD.

On the table is the menu of drinks and food for the evening. Our table goes for the gimlet – a drink that takes me back to the earliest of my cocktail drinking days. In the smallest cocktail glass I’ve ever seen I am poured a gimlet to the limit. To the edge of the glass. The only way to successfully drink it, without spilling it, is not to pick it up, but to lean over and sip it until the level is lower and gives some leeway to an even slightly shaking hand.

General Manager of QT Singapore, Doron Whaite, comes to our table to say hello and makes sure everyone has a drink. Doron has worked at QT Singapore since it opened in September 24.  This is QT’s’ first property in Southeast Asia, and first outside of Australia and New Zealand. As General Manager of QT Auckland Doron was awarded Accommodation Leader of The Year, which honours dedication and celebrates those who contribute to and inspire confidence in the industry.

Doron points out: “Our bar bites are not mere snacks; they are culinary delights designed to be savoured and shared. Think oysters on the half shell, decadent lobster rolls, and other irresistible creations that perfectly complement your chosen libation.”

The Cygnet Hour takes place 4:00 – 7:00pm daily making it a great place to unwind after office hours. Slip through the side door, along Lau Pa Sat’s iconic Satay Street, to enter a world of enticing cocktails and banging bar bites all for a stunning $10.00 each. For those who prefer wine or craft beer $10 unlocks a world of exceptional pours.

Doron  adds: “The Cygnet Hour is a space that truly caters to everyone, where you can let your hair down, whilst you eat and drink up. Whether it’s a post-work stop for a drink to unwind or an opportunity to kick off the night with friends, our aim is to accommodate the diverse lifestyles of our guests and locals. At QT, we are all about going beyond the ordinary to create food and beverage experiences, whilst embracing the dynamic evolution of this diverse city’s dining and social culture.”

The Cygnet Hour offers good times beyond drinks and bites. Andrew Lewis, founder of renowned music curator Digital Wax, delivers a playlist that blends ‘90s nostalgia with Empire City cool. Revellers can unwind to ‘90s Brooklyn hip-hop and R&B beats that play late into the night.

It is a vibrant environment which only gets more energetic as the evening goes on. When you are looking for a place to enjoy Happy Hour it should be easy to make the Cygnet in QT Singapore, your first choice.
