Crowds throng Singapore’s first Travel Festival for Free & Independent Travellers
Singapore, October 9, 2019 – Klook, a world-leading travel activities and services platform launched Singapore's first travel festival exclusively targeted at free and independent (FIT) travellers at Suntec City Convention Centre on 5th and 6th October 2019.
The inaugural fair saw 35,000 attendees over two days, a testament to the growing FIT market in Singapore. Confident about designing their own holiday (Based on a YouGov study on FIT market in Singapore, September 2019) these travellers flocked to the Klook Travel Festival to plan and make their own bookings.
“We are encouraged by the strong showing of attendees at Singapore’s inaugural travel festival with the first in the queue arriving at 6:50am on Saturday. We saw over 35,000 attendees across the two days, surpassing our forecasted attendance on the first day alone,” said Marcus Yong, Regional Marketing Director of Klook Southeast Asia. “ This truly reaffirms our decision to exclusively target the growing FIT traveller market. Singaporeans have clearly shown that they want a travel fair that offers more than brochures and packaged tours.”
Celebrating travel, fun and community under one roof, the two-day festival combined a fairground ambience with eight instagram-worthy and interactive zones; live music performances; 1-for-1 deals on popular activities such as Universal Studios Japan that sold out in 43 seconds ; free carnival games and rides and even a pop-up cinema to entertain travellers as they go about building their perfect holiday with Klook.
With all these event exclusive deals and activities, not only did the Klook Travel Festival helped Singaporeans build their perfect holiday, it also helped travellers save over SGD$650,000. Singaporeans who turned up at the mobile-led travel festival made a beeline for the Rail booth where experts were on hand to answer queries relating to rail stretching from Europe to Asia, affirming the popularity and allure of train travel. Top rail products booked from Klook include the whole Japan Rail Pass, JR Hokkaido Rail Pass, Swiss Travel Pass and the Eurail Global pass.
