(Singapore, 10 June 2026) First created in 1915 and globally recognised as the national cocktail of Singapore, the Singapore Sling celebrates its 111-year legacy in this year’s edition of Singapore Sling Day. An annual tradition which takes place on 27 June, Singapore Sling Day coincides with International Pineapple Day - the tropical fruit being the international emblem of hospitality and a key ingredient in the Singapore Sling.

Guests can look forward to a line-up of commemorative experiences and festivities, including Long Bar’s annual tradition of exchanging a whole pineapple for a complimentary glass of the Singapore Sling*, the launch of the Singapore Sling Zero, lucky draws, and exclusive giveaways.

Singapore Sling Day Festivities

From now to 27 June 2026, guests are invited to participate in a giveaway on Long Bar’s Instagram page (@longbarsg) by answering a Singapore Sling-themed trivia question. One lucky participant will win an exclusive private Sling masterclass for two, priority booking for two at Long Bar as well as two Singapore Sling souvenir glasses. On Singapore Sling Day itself, Long Bar will be decked out in celebratory decor, with a lineup of activities planned for this special day:

Pineapple Exchange 

A nod to the Singapore Sling’s 111th year and a slight twist to the usual first 100 redemptions, exceptionally on 27 June 2026, the first 111 guests who bring a whole pineapple to Long Bar may exchange it for a complimentary glass of Singapore Sling. Limited to the first 111 redemptions; one redemption per guest.

New Photobooth 

Sip and snap your way through Singapore Sling Day at the new Long Bar photobooth, a permanent addition to Long Bar, but with playful props and themed photo frames made exclusively for the occasion.

The Golden Peanut 

Guests who find a golden peanut in their bag of peanuts will win a Long Bar gunny sack.

Spin the Wheel Lucky Draw 

Guests who order three Singapore Slings each will be entitled to spin the wheel for a lucky draw, with fun prizes including the Singapore Sling Glass, Long Bar Gunny Sack or a Singapore Sling Magnet.

Guest can also look forward to a special Singapore Sling Zero launch that will be unveiled closer to 27 June 2026.

Honouring 111 Years of the Singapore Sling 

First created in 1915, the Singapore Sling emerged during a time when etiquette forbade women from consuming alcohol in public. In response, a resourceful Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon crafted a rosyhued cocktail resembling fruit juice, cleverly fortified with gin and liqueurs. This feminine flair made it socially acceptable for women of that era and quickly cemented the cocktail’s popularity. 

Today, the Singapore Sling continues to be shaken with its century-old recipe that has remained unchanged since its first creation in 1915. The gin-based cocktail features locally-distilled Brass Lion Singapura Gin, with spicy, fruity notes of fresh pineapple juice, lime juice, Curaçao and Bénédictine. Its signature pink colour is deepened by cherry liqueur and grenadine, made of 100% pomegranate juice and specially created for the Singapore Sling, and giving the cocktail a layered finish is a dash of bespoke cocktail bitters. 

In keeping with tradition, guests may continue to enjoy the simplicity of having peanuts directly from the gunny sack and are encouraged to brush their peanuts shells onto the floor as part of the full Singapore Sling experience.
