Running from 23 April to 31 May, this exhibition is part of the prestigious vOilah! France-Singapore Festival 2025.

In France, the concept of “culture” encompasses both intellectual pursuits and the beauty of nature, reflecting the Parisian love for gardens and literature alike. Yet, the trees of Paris face a constant struggle for survival in a city that can be quite hostile to nature. Imagine the majestic Haussmannian boulevards devoid of their tree-lined beauty, or the Luxembourg Gardens lacking their iconic chestnut trees. The soul of Paris is intertwined with its plane trees, lime trees, and sophoras. Despite thriving in an environment that isn’t naturally theirs, these trees rise above the challenges of urban life, standing tall and serene as they reach for the light.
Just as trees require nurturing to flourish, so too can the human mind unlock its full potential through lifelong learning. Echoing Voltaire’s words, “We must cultivate our garden,” Melisa’s work encourages a deeper appreciation for both nature and self-growth.
By capturing the trunks and leaves from which Paris draws its roots, Melisa seeks to reveal the spiritual connection between humanity and the natural world. With the support of Intersections Gallery, which will assist in selling the prints, a portion of the proceeds from these photograph sales will be generously donated to local charitable initiatives dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged individuals.
