(Singapore, 7 July 2026) Martial arts icon and global action superstar Jackie Chan made a special appearance at Pei Chun Public School today, bringing his signature energy to a vibrant primary school assembly hall in the Toa Payoh heartland. He was joined by Minister for National Development, Mr Chee Hong Tat, and Mr Kiat Lim from the Lim Family Foundation. The global legend arrived to personally engage with the school’s young wushu community and the scholars of the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship (SOFPLS).

The high-energy morning brought Jackie Chan face-to-face with around 900 Primary 4 to 6 students and 21 past and present SOFPL wushu scholarship recipients. Students and alumni, led by head coach Mr Wilson Yap Weisheng, opened the event with a heartwarming medley of wushu, dragon, and lion dance performances before the superstar took centre stage for an auspicious dragon eye-dotting ceremony. An intimate sharing session by the superstar and a Q&A on resilience, discipline and cultural pride followed, before the morning closed with a mass group photograph of everyone present packed around the martial arts icon.

For the student-athletes, the star power was electric. "I used to rewatch The Karate Kid over and over, imitating Jackie Chan's stunts in my living room," said Lucas Teo, 16, a two-time SOFPLS high performance scholarship recipient. "He is the absolute reason I started wushu. Getting to meet him today and show him my form is a literal dream come true."

Mr Kiat Lim from the Lim Family Foundation said, "Jackie Chan is one of the most recognised faces in martial arts and global cinema. This rare event continues the Lim Family Foundation’s signature tradition of hosting global icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lewis Hamilton, and JJ Lin at their charity events and community initiatives to give local youths a once-in-a lifetime experience.

Today's visit builds on the momentum of the annual SOFPLS awards ceremony held on 30 June at ITE College Central, where more than 400 young athletes across various sports were honoured. Since its inception in 2010, the Lim Family Foundation has committed more than S$20 million to SOFPLS, supporting 5,629 athletes in pursuing their sporting dreams – among them 163 wushu scholars over the past 16 years, many of whom have gone on to represent Singapore on regional and world championship podiums. 

They include Chua Xin Yun, who in 2024 became the only Singaporean named the International Wushu Federation's (IWUF) Wushu Taolu Rising Star of the Year after winning gold and silver at the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships in Brunei; and Cholene Aw Rui En, who became a world champion with three gold medals at this year's 5th World Taijiquan Championships in Burgas, Bulgaria. Both were among the SOFPLS scholars present at today's event.
