Following the successful inaugural AccorHotels Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship (www.vietnamworldmasters.com) this past September, AccorHotels announces the return of the event to Danang in Central Vietnam from 4 to 10 September 2016. (Photos from inaugural event)

Open to male and female club golfers aged 35 and above, this week-long celebration of golf, social events, cultural experiences and sightseeing will once again attract big numbers from Australia, New Zealand, United States, Canada, the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong and host nation Vietnam.“We’re thrilled to co-host the AccorHotels Vietnam World Masters Golf Championship in 2016 and further highlight Danang as a world-class golf destination, where golfers and spectators can enjoy award-wining golf courses and delight in our wonderful beachfront and riverside hotels,” says Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer for AccorHotels Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia.

The tournament is jointly hosted by Golfasian and Australian-based Go Golfing Travel who have been staging World Masters tournaments for 20 years. Both companies received top honours at the prestigious World Golf Awards. Event host, Peter McCarthy, ranks Danang as the most idyllic event destination on their expansive tournament calendar. “Both Danang Golf Club and Montgomerie Links Vietnam are world-class courses, matched with equally great caddies, facilities and services. Pullman Danang Beach Resort is simply luxurious and ideally located overlooking 20 kilometres of pristine beach. Nearby UNESCO world heritage sites include the ancient trading port of Hoi An, the citadel in the former imperial city of Hue and the My Son (Hindu) Sanctuary, making this area culturally and historically significant. Additionally, with endless sunny days, exotic cuisines, great entertainment and nightlife, it’s easy to see why Danang is a compelling golf and holiday destination.”

First-time travellers to Vietnam, Ronnie and Wendy Triffit of Australia said, "We really enjoyed the links design of Danang Golf Course and the greens were so pure. The Montgomerie course was a little more forgiving and its conditioning couldn't be faulted. We were glad we stayed at the Pullman Danang which is on a beautiful stretch of beach popular with surfers. The resort staff were so nice to us. Wendy is a non-golfer but she enjoyed the organised day tours and cooking classes along with meeting the other partners at the event. Hoi An is just magical and we loved the fabulous Vietnamese cuisine."

Pablo Soon from the Philippines has competed in tournaments around the world and rates the Vietnam World Masters among the best. "I think Danang is perfect for golf holidays and we were spoilt with the event organisation and hospitality this week. The downtown area is beautiful and we enjoyed the restaurants and bars. We are already decided to come back for the tournament next year," he added.

Participants will play rounds at Danang Golf Club, named by Golf Magazine USA in 2010 as one of the top 15 golf courses to open worldwide, and Montgomerie Links Vietnam, which was voted Best Golf Course in Vietnam in 2010 and 2011 by Vietnam Golf Magazine. Accommodation during the event is available at Pullman Danang Beach Resort, the official tournament hotel, as well as Premier Village Danang Resort by Accor and Novotel Danang Premier Han River.
