Cardamom Tented Camp: comfortable tented accommodation with hiking, kayaking, ziplining and conservation in its heart 

Cardamom Tented Camp in Koh Kong province has announced a special price “Cambodian Residents’ Offer” for stays up to 30 September 2020. 

The offer includes two nights’ accommodation in a safari tent, two breakfasts, two dinners, one lunch and optional trekking, kayaking, tubing and ziplining for two. The package also includes a roundtrip shuttle boat to the resort, which is only accessible by river or foot. The special offer for Cambodian residents is only US$175 per person (sharing) or US$225 for single occupancy. 

Booking dates are from now until 31 July 2020 for stays up to 30 September 2020.

New Zipline Across the River

The nine-tent ecolodge, a haven for conservation tourists, has also launched a 70-metre zipline which offers an exhilarating way for guests to cross the Preak Tachan river. After ziplining across, guests can hike a new 1km  trail, built by Wildlife Alliance rangers. The new track links to existing trails and gives guests the option of trekking deep into the protected area with rangers. 

After years of forest patrols, illegal logging and poaching has all-but been eradicated in the surrounding Botum Sakur national park. The result is gibbon, macaque, otters and hornbills are often seen along the trails. 

After sunset, wildlife viewing trips by boat can be organised where more elusive mammals and reptiles can be spotted at a safe distance, such as python, water dragon, banded krait, civet, leopard and even clouded leopard. 

Cardamom Tented Camp won the 2019 PATA Gold Award for Environment - Ecotourism category. It was also a top three entrant in the 2019 World Travel & Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Awards in the Changemaker category. 

Since opening in 2017, the camp has operated under the slogan, “Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing.” This is because the camp partly pays for anti-logging and poaching patrols of 14 Wildlife Alliance forest rangers in the surrounding 180km2 reserve.
