Floyd and Farah Cowan enjoy drinks and dinner with Accor's Harry Greig at Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvut 20’s new Restaurant Pantharai and at its rooftop bar SKY ON 20
(Bangkok, April 30,2023) I could think of no better way of catching up with dear friend Harry Greig when Farah and I were in Bangkok than to have drinks at the Rooftop Bar Sukhumvit Bangkok SKY ON 20. Actually it was Harry’s idea, as he knew what a great place it is for enjoying the sunset. It was also his suggestion that we move down to The Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvut 20’s new restaurant Pantharai. The decor is fabulous with oak barrel lamps, wooden trunks for tables and old wooden doors with black clasps and handles. The quality raises your expectations and the culinary team delivers.
The Triple leads off and hits a home run with patatas gravas, garlic and chili prawns and grilled marinated octopus for starters. Tortellini Tom-Yum (2 bowl) was up next. This prawn tortellini in spicy tom-yum soup delivers a strike right over the plate. We all shared in the 1000 grams of barbeque pork ribs that came with naan bread and winter slaw. Under the heading COMPLETE ME is the dessert offering – Triple Flavor Mango Sticky Rice. That is three flavor sticky rice served with mango and crispy yellow bean.
While triples seemed to be the theme of Pantharai’s menu we could only manage to get through two bottles from their outstanding collection. If you are looking for a first class meal in Bangkok Pantharai’s is the place – and don’t forget to start at the Rooftop Bar Sukhumvit Bangkok SKY ON 20.
