This is the first time eight beaches of India are recommended for the coveted International eco-label, the Blue Flag certification. The recommendations are done by an independent National Jury composed of eminent environmentalists and scientists. Blue Flag beaches are considered the cleanest beaches of the world. The eight beaches are Shivrajpur in Gujarat, Ghoghla in Diu and extending into neighbouring Gujarat as Ahmedpur-Mandvi Beach, Kasarkod Beach  near Honnavar and Padubidri Beach near Udipi in Karnataka state, Kappad in Kerala, Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh, Golden Beach in  Odisha and Radhanagar Beach in Andaman and Nicobar. 

Kerala and Sikkim Tourist Destinations Opening Up 

'God’s Own Country’ ready for you - As part of a phased approach, Kerala's tourist destinations, excluding beaches, are now open but only with strict COVID-19 protocol, for domestic tourists. The beaches will open on November 1, 2020. 

Sikkim opens for tourists with COVID-19 protocols. Hotels, homestays and other tourism-related services have been allowed to restart their operations. The state has said that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) announced by the central and the state governments should be put in place by hotels and all tourism-related activities.
