(Singapore, 19 November 2024) - Prominent independent Scotch whisky distillery, The GlenAllachie, launches its celebratory limited-edition single malt to mark Lunar New Year 2025: an 11-Year-Old Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso & Virgin Oak Cask Finish.
The award-winning independent company is led by Scotch whisky stalwart Billy Walker, a qualified chemist and distinguished cask innovator.
The Year of the Snake Edition is a masterful multi-wood finish crafted by Walker to honour the auspicious Year of the Snake. This exceptional single malt was matured in a selection of premium Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks from Spain, along with toasted and charred virgin oak barrels.
Throughout the maturation process, Walker meticulously monitored the whisky in the distillery’s 16 on-site warehouses in Speyside, ensuring the spirit achieved a harmonious balance between The GlenAllachie’s distinctive character and the influence of the casks.
After 11 years, the resulting expression is described as offering “indulgent notes of pear and ginger cake, orange peel, and butterscotch sauce.”
The landmark release, dedicated to the Asia market, is the first in the brand’s series of Chinese New Year special editions to feature a fully bespoke carton, showcasing an eye-catching, hand-drawn illustration with gold foil and embossed details.
Adding to its collectability, a 3D gold-coloured snake charm adorns the bottle neck, while the packaging’s green hue reflects the wood element associated with the Year of the Snake.
Bottled at 48% ABV, the Year of the Snake Edition is presented unchill filtered and free from artificial colouring, staying true to The GlenAllachie’s commitment to authenticity.

Having travelled to numerous Asian countries this year, I’ve witnessed firsthand the demand and appreciation for Scotch whisky in the region and was fortunate to meet many passionate GlenAllachie fans.

Nose: Orange peel, rich chocolate and caramelised ginger, with bursts of honeysuckle, buttercream and brandied dark cherries.
Taste: Butterscotch, grilled honeycomb and Brandy snaps, followed by blood orange, poached pears and cinnamon butter, with crystalised ginger and chocolate gâteau.
