(Singapore September 18, 2019) Discover a “terraqueous” world in which the mythological, the mystical and the magical converge with Myth & Magic, an exhibition to showcase artworks by Yen Chua. The exhibition will run from 20 September 2019 to 3 January 2020 at the lobby of Royal Plaza on Scotts.
Myth & Magic encompasses eight colourful new paintings representing mythical creatures such as mermaids and unicorns. Yen mixes acrylic with charcoal, her favourite medium since her student time, to create the vibrant artworks. Two exquisite drawings on paper depicting mermaids complete the exhibition.
The artist wittily blurs the lines that divide the worlds of fantasy and reality and creates a new universe in which the impossible becomes possible, where dreams transcend into reality. It's a realm in which fancy takes flight, where the whimsical and the wonderful meet.
Yen Chua's artistic practice metaphorically celebrates women and expresses her concern for environmental issues. Her artworks echo her dreams and aspirations for a better world.
