(Singapore July 13, 2018) Asia's premier tropical garden and flower show, the Singapore Garden Festival (SGF) returns for its seventh edition from 21 July to 3 August 2018. This year’s Festival is conceptualised as a tropical rainforest garden with more than 70 garden and flower displays spread across The Meadow, Supertree Grove and Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay.Some 40 garden and floral designers, including 15 from Singapore, will vie for top honours in the Landscape Gardens, Fantasy Gardens, Balcony Gardens and Floral Windows to the World competitions. There will also be a special non-competitive Floral Windows to the World display by the two designers who won Best of Show at SGF 2016.
Visitors can look forward to new special displays by NParks staff including the ASEAN Garden that depicts the unity of the 10 ASEAN countries and incorporates a myriad of colourful blossoms symbolic of these nations; a Secret Garden of Edibles filled with colourful edibles and fragrant plants from temperate climates; a Therapeutic Garden that will sooth one’s senses; and other attractions such as The Mountains, Flower Field, Gothic Gates, Vanda Valley and the Colonnade Arches set within a Lost Forest.
The Festival will also be a platform for amateur designers and community gardeners to showcase their gardening skills and creativity. Budding designers will put their skills to the test at competitions organised by local interest groups and societies such as the Floral Designers Society (Singapore), Nanyang Primary School and Singapore Penjing & Stone Appreciation Society. Separately, the works of community gardeners will be showcased at the Gardeners’ Cup and Community Garden Edibles Competition.
