Thank you brand ambassador Mr Randall Tan, writes Mike Smith as his first sampling of The Macallan Harmony Collection Fine Cacao whisky, which spotlights the Macallan sustainability journey at its global launch at the Mallow Gastrobar, InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, Nanson Road, was delightful.

To create the Fine Cacao edition, The Macallan Whisky maker Polly Logan visited Girona, Spain, where she explored the chocolate making process with world renowned pastry chef, Jordi Roca and integrated the flavours into a single highlands malt whisky

The single malt bottle is encased in a  recyclable and biodegradable box made from discarded husks from cacao pods. Not surprisingly this whisky pairs well with the finest chocolates. 

To add value and entertainment to the whisky launch Asia's top pastry chef Janice Wong continued the sustainability and chocolate theme as she guided us through planting cacao seeds to grow future trees and a fascinating detailed chocolate making workshop. In her collaboration with Macallan she generously presented us with samples of her handcrafted Macallan infused chocolate.

What is whisky at lunchtime without food? Host Mallow Gastrobar provided a delicate light lunch of delicious "tartlet tears",

"Shrooms", an herbed oyster ravioli with pickled mushrooms and leak broth followed by a "Silky Chocolate" dessert. Thanks to Chef Christina Rasmussen for her subtle flavours.

Singapore is the first in the world to launch sales of the Macallan Harmony Fine Cacao Whisky at a pop-up at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 Departure Hall.  The pop-up represents The Macallan's sustainability journey, showcasing a retail space created and built from re-purposed materials.

The pop-up also features an interactive web augmented reality (AR) experience to allow consumers to discover more about The Macallan Harmony Collection Fine Cacao.

Retailing at SG $215, the whisky is also available at Singapore Changi Airport Lotte Duty Free shops and will be introduced more widely to global travel retail hubs from mid-May 2022. Interestingly its unique marketing property is that It is only available at retail outlets at airports.
