(Singapore, 6 July 2018) Ocean Park, Hong Kong’s unique home-grown theme park, has launched its biggest summer festival, Summer Carnimal. From now until 2 September 2018, guests can bask underneath summer skies and enjoy entertainment extravaganzas involving over 100 talented international performers in animal-themed parades, authentic Caribbean and South American cultural shows and national level synchronised swimming performances.
Taking centre stage are Caribbean Summer Parade and Caribbean Summer Night Parade, the grandest parades that Ocean Park has ever produced. The parades see a group of 50 elite international performers in colourful, creative and exuberant costumes that exemplify three main themes: marine life, wildlife and birds. Together with stilt walkers and energetic musicians grooving along to wild beats and rhythms, the international performers will dazzle guests in three high-energy Caribbean Summer Parades at The Waterfront each day. Guests may spot some familiar faces during the parade, including giant puppets that imitate the Park’s beloved golden snub-nosed monkey, a four-metre tall giraffe and an elegant stonefish. When the sun sets, guests can soak in the Park’s unique summer atmosphere at night as performers change into lit-up costumes for the mesmerising Caribbean Summer Night Parade.
In addition to the parades, guests will be amazed by the strong line-up of performers at Applause Pavilion’s Viva Spectacular, which includes Ebon Grayman, a Cirque Du Soleil star acrobatic performer with 13 years of experience, as well as Shemika Campbell, the Queen of Limbo who holds three Guinness World Records. Meanwhile, a national-level synchronised swimming team from Canada will visit Hong Kong for the first time to present a hypnotic water ballet show themed Aqua Kaleidoscope at the Park’s Ocean Theatre.
Apart from the enthralling shows, the Park’s restaurants and food kiosks have curated over 100 delectable summer dishes, including an exquisite summer Chinese menu designed by Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred chef Chan Kwok-keung, as well as a selection of Caribbean-style summer food and drink specialties. What’s more, guests can claim bragging rights over their Carnimal experience at Ocean Park with limited-edition merchandise including animal-themed hats, tie-dye t-shirts and headbands. Those who want some Carnimal styling can visit the Wild Face Painting counter at Aqua City for a makeover by professional face painting artists to create a unique look for selfies or group photos.
