The transformed South Tower of the I.M. Pei designed hotel redefines luxury with timeless chic
[Singapore] 15 November, 2019 – Presenting a new era in design, the recently renovated South Tower of the Fairmont Singapore offers guests a whole new level of luxury and stay experience showcased throughout its beautifully-appointed rooms and suites; following an extensive transformation.
Strategically located in the heart of the city’s Civic District, where business, culture, history and lifestyle take centre stage, Fairmont Singapore was the acclaimed hospitality brand’s premiere hotel in Asia-Pacific premiere. Across both North and South Towers, the hotel offers guests a total of 778 luxurious guestrooms and suites, access to 13 diverse restaurants and bars, 108,000 square feet of prime meeting space and a world-class Spa.
General Manager Marcus Hanna said of the transformation, “Designed with today’s global traveller in mind, the Fairmont Singapore has been transformed and enhanced with features and facilities to cater to both business and leisure guests. This journey of innovation and change is a testament to our commitment to deliver exceptional guest experiences by combining impeccable design with modern technology, to create timeless yet inspiring living spaces for our guests.”
Fairmont Singapore’s reimagined South Tower Featuring 403 luxurious rooms ranging from 45 sqm to 190 sqm, the new South Tower boasts upgraded and intuitive amenities, redesigned lift lobbies, as well as vibrant guestroom corridors leading to havens of respite. In partnership with the award-winning Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the refurbishment of interiors features an elegant and timeless design, paying homage to the legacy of the group renowned for creating inspired, brand-strengthening design experiences. “Our remit was to head in a different direction with the intent of engaging new guests and exciting existing ones. We had to be considered in our detailing by offering Fairmont guests a truly bespoke and luxurious experience,” added HBA lead designer Robbyn Carter.
Framing the Skyline View: The new Guestrooms and Suites
Fairmont Singapore’s South Tower offers guests unparalleled views of the city and harbour, with the new room layouts taking full advantage of this. The guest experience starts from the lift lobby, where guests are first welcomed by handsome layers on the artisanal wall sconces, and an ornate gold-framed antique mirror, reflective of both Fairmont and Singapore’s heritage. As guests step out from the lift lobby onto the guestroom floors, they are greeted with a sense of calm by the surrounding wood-slatted walls, covered by framing silk linen fabric designed in calming sea-green colour tones.
Seamlessly blending in with the lift lobby, guests will notice a thoughtful expression of texture and art while moving through the corridor. On one side, the wall is covered with a subtle grey herringbone arrangement reminiscent of fabrics used in classic suits. Revealed on the opposite side is a dynamic mural of a tropical landscape that acts as a pathfinding reference for guests.
Upon stepping foot into the newly refined rooms, guests will note the union of dark wood panels, warm whisky and cognac hues, herringbone tweeds and opulent leathers for a functional yet luxurious experience. The guest rooms are further adorned by impactful pieces of art and bespoke furniture which celebrate Singapore’s heritage. The late I.M. Pei’s unique circular design of the original Fairmont Singapore also ensures that each room features differing views of the expansive Singapore skyline, offering guests a visually refreshing experience with each stay.
Taking centre stage, the leather-wrapped headboard positions the bed as an island in the middle of the room, facing out to give guests optimal visual vantage of Singapore’s stunning skyline. By the window a plush sofa allows guests a place to relax while a 55” television on the opposite walls provide the gateway to Fairmont’s plethora of visual entertainment offerings.
Amenities have also been given the same thoughtful and premium treatment. Behind the bed a beautifully detailed black lacquer cabinet acts as the room’s focal point, opening up to reveal an elaborate and generous bar offering framed by leather panels and antique mirror. Continuing its pursuit towards sustainable hospitality, Fairmont Singapore has equipped each room with a Swisspro fresh water dispenser offering access to unlimited filtered hot and cold water. First in the Fairmont family to do so, the hotel will significantly limit the use of plastic in the form of traditional bottled water.
The Fairmont Gold Lounge
Located on the 25th floor, the completely remade Fairmont Gold Lounge offers sweeping skyline views of the city state. Conceptualised to evoke the cosiness of a homely residence, the space houses a variety of configurations to accommodate all, whether hosting a business meeting, catching up with friends over breakfast or enjoying sunset drinks with a view. The central focal point is the open kitchen counter, serving up daily breakfast and an array of evening cocktails and beverages.
