Various media have reported on plans for the reopening of Thailand and particularly opening Phuket to international travellers.
The Bankok Post reported August 18, 2020: “The Tourism and Sports Ministry aims to introduce its "Safe and Sealed" tourism plan in Phuket by Oct 1, while operators in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai are teaming up as a northern hub for long-stay travellers.
“Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Tourism and Sports Minister, said the ministry will join a meeting with Public Health, Interior, Foreign and Transport ministries on Aug 27 about the plan to open the country to tourists from low-risk cities or provinces who seek an excursion to Thailand.”
Travel Weekly Asia has posted on its website: Thai Airways International, in alignment with the Phuket destination bubble approach, has announced that it will soon relaunch international travel with direct charter flights to the Thai island from six international destinations, namely Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong.
Asian Journeys has been informed that the re-opening of Phuket is a plan at this stage. Staff have not been notified on the implementation details and conditions related to this matter yet.
There are people who are allowed to go to Thailand. You can read the conditions for travelling on the Royal Thai Embassy’s website.
